Pack Meeting This Wednesday - Personal Safety

Posted on Oct 12 2025 - 7:59pm

At the pack meeting this Wednesday, scouts will continue their journey by learning about personal safety and first aid.

We will start out at 6pm in the Del Rey MPR with a wolf-led flag ceremony.

For the first half hour we will split into our dens. The Wolves, Tigers, and Lions will head outside to practice shouting and running to find a trusted adult.  Then they will go over some rules for staying safe at school and on the playground.  Finally, they will get to demonstrate those rules on the Del Rey playground. Meanwhile, Webelos will learn about natural disasters and staying safe in your house.  Arrow of Lights will learn some more advanced first aid.

In the second half hour, we will give the kids some hands-on experience with basic first aid and give some lucky volunteers some simulated injuries to be worked on by their fellow scouts.

To finish up, the Arrow of Light scouts will treat us to a first aid skit teaching what to expect if you need to call 911.

At the end we will distribute our annual first aid kits and the personal safety advancement loops.  And we will close out the meeting with the wolves performing the flag closing ceremony at 7pm.

We can't wait to see you there.

Paper Rockets - Wednesday August 27 - MPR 6pm

Posted on Aug 24 2025 - 8:48am

Join us for our annual paper rocket launch kick-off.

At 6:05-ish we will have a quick opening ceremony and a brief demonstration of how to build the rockets.  Art supplies and construction materials will be out on the tables.  We will have a couple of older scouts roaming around to help with construction as needed.

When most of the rockets have been completed, we will wander out to the black top for our launches.

We’ll need 3-4 parent volunteers to help supervise the air pumps, and the younger scouts will need help pumping as well.  We also need 1 or 2 standing bicycle air pumps with pressure gauges. Please let me know if you have one you can bring.  If we don’t have enough volunteers, a couple of lucky parents will be recruited from the audience.
